Why I Became A Social Media Ambassador for the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce

"We must take adventures in order to know where we truly belong." - Unknown

I have lived in New Jersey my entire life and from a young age I always held my Latin roots close to my heart. I can recall my early childhood and can remember the aroma of my Mama Alicia's cooking en la cocina (in the kitchen) with her Arroz con Pollo (Chicken and Rice) or her Estofado (Stew), or the memories of our large family gatherings every year for Feliz Navidad and can just remember feeling a sense of "belonging" that will always remain a part of me.

It was this very feeling of belonging that I continued to seek as a child and can remember a time where I felt I didn't belong...the time I am referring to is when at the age of 19, I became a mother. Though this was one of the greatest moments of my life, I can still recall that frightened teenage reflection of myself in the mirror. I used to sometimes feel as if achieving my dream of being a great mom, while having a career I truly loved, just wouldn't happen for me. I even recall a number of people telling me I should no longer dream of my own success and would need to let it go.

I remember thinking to myself, "Am I being selfish", "Is it even possible?" I even used to sit in amazement and wonder, "How do women master the balancing act of being a "supermom", all the while continuing their education, and pursuing their own dreams of success?"

Despite all my uncertainties, my family stood behind me and, in 2012, I completed my Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Humanities and Spanish from Georgian Court University. Then in 2013, I completed my Master of Business Administration (MBA) from Georgian Court University in Global Marketing. It was during my graduate year of studies that I was blessed to have found my calling or as I like to say, "the beginning of my career journey". As I reflect on my decision to finish my education and enter the world of Digital Marketing and all it's constant changes, it's a decision I wouldn't change for the world.

I feel each and everyday is a continuation of my journey and the reason I became an Ambassador for the Statewide Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of New Jersey is because I saw the opportunity to genuinely make a difference in our community of Hispanic business owners and especially Latinas throughout the state of New Jersey.

I felt it was not only necessary to share my story but also my passion for Digital Marketing through utilizing my talents in an organization that is dedicated to awakening and continuing the tradition of the #Familia spirit in all of us in order to support and celebrate each other’s success.

The SHCCNJ is helping our community of business owners and professionals develop confidence in their own abilities and is giving them the tools and resources necessary to succeed, and I knew I NEEDED to be a part of that incredible gift to others. For this reason, I am proud to be a SHCCNJ Ambassador.

Be sure to join our #FAMILIA on October 14, 2016 from 8:00am-2:30pm for our 26th Annual Convention & Awards Luncheon at The Palisadium in Cliffside Park, NJ.
